Meet Our High School Directors!
DIrector of Bands, Cisd
Kevin Knight is the Director of Bands for Crosby ISD. He serves as the Head Director for Crosby High School and works with all bands throughout CISD.
Mr. Knight is a graduate of Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, FL, where he was a student of Randy Nelson and Chad Hannah. At the Florida State University College of Music, he earned a Bachelors of Instrumental Music Education where he studied with Patrick Dunnigan and David Plack. As a French horn player, Knight was a member of the Florida State University Horn Studio, under the mentorship of Michelle Stebleton.
Under Mr. Knight's leadership, Crosby High School Band students have earned numerous All-Region Band placements, Area advancements, TMEA All-State achievement and Solo & Ensemble medals each year. During Knight's tenure, the Crosby Band Program has increased the number of students involved and the number of yearly performances in the community and the greater Houston area. In recent years, the band has traveled and performed in Los Angeles, California, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, the Walt Disney World Parade in Orlando and New York City. In 2018, the Crosby High School Symphonic Band was chosen to perform at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Knight composes, arranges and edits many musical pieces and charts all drills performed by the Crosby Cougar Military Marching Band. He holds memberships in the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, the National Band Association and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.

Michael Lehew is the Associate Director for Crosby High School. He teaches the Concert Band and assists with all CISD Bands. He also teaches the beginner trombone, euphonium and tuba classes.
Mr. Lehew is an alumnus of both San Jacinto College and the University of Houston. He is also a graduate of North Shore Senior High School in Galena Park ISD. While attending college, Lehew was principal tubist of the University of Houston Wind Ensemble from 2008-2009 and was member of The Spirit of Houston Cougar Marching Band. He also earned the privilege of being named Music Student of the Year for both San Jacinto College (2004) and the University of Houston (2010).
Before coming to Crosby ISD, Mr. Lehew was affiliated with several district private lesson programs including Galena Park, Deer Park, Channelview, Klein, Alvin, and Clear Creek. Under his tutelage, Mr. Lehew has produced several All-region and Area instrumentalist, as well as a handful of All-State musicians; the highest individual honor a Texas high school musician can achieve.
Mr. Lehew is a member Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, Musicians for Music Education, The Association of Texas Professional Educators, Texas Classroom Teachers Association, Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. He also holds the rank of Eagle Scout for the Boy Scouts of America.
Middle School Band Directors!
CROSBY MIDDLE SCHOOL
Mr. Heaslet directs the Crosby Middle School Symphonic Band, Cadet Band and Jazz Band. He assists with all CISD Bands. He also teaches our beginner percussion class.
Mr. Heaslet graduated from East Texas State University and he plays the trumpet. He is an avid lover of jazz. The Crosby Middle School Jazz Band regularly performs for the Crosby community and greater Houston area.
Mr. Heaslet is a proud Crosby Cougar that has taught in the district for over 30 years! He is married to his lovely wife, Su Heaslet. They both enjoy time with their pets, traveling and enjoying live jazz music.
CROSBY MIDDLE SCHOOL
Brandi Killough is enjoying her 21st year of teaching. She directs the Crosby Middle School Concert Band and teaches the beginner woodwind classes. She assists with all bands in CISD. Before joining the team in Crosby this year, Mrs. Killough spent 17 years in Galena Park ISD.
Mrs. Killough is a graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University, where she received both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts degrees. Her bands have been consistent recipients of UIL Sweepstakes awards as well as winning a grant from the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. Mrs. Killough also enjoys working with schools and Region Bands in the area.
Mrs. Killough’s affiliations include the Texas Music Educator’s Association (TMEA), Texas Music Adjudicator’s Association (TMAA), and Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA). Outside of school she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jay, and daughters, Taylor and Allie.
